𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗲, 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮 Style

Serves :3 Spice level: Mild


Fish recipe from the Southern state of Kerala in India. I have always loved the coastal state of Kerala with its beautiful sea, backwaters, lush green landscapes and cuisine.


Mild and full of flavour, mean molee is a fairly easy dish to make!


Ingredients


1. 400 gm of fish. (I used Bassa)


2. Marinate Ingredients

1. Salt

2. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

3. 3/4 teaspoon pepper

4. Juice of half lemon

5. 1teaspoon oil and oil to fry the fish


3. Sauce ingredients

* 1 inch sized ginger piece minced

* 3-4 garlic cloves (finely chopped)

* 2-3 green cardomon or 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

* 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

* 10-12 dried curry leaves

* 1 medium sized onion sliced

* 1 or 2 green chilies slit (optional)

* ¼ tsp turmeric powder

* 1 teaspoon black pepper

* 1 tin coconut milk

* Juice ofone lemon juice

* 1 fresh tomato sliced

* Salt as per taste

* 2-3 tablespoons of oil


Method


1. Fry the fish on both sides in a pan with some oil and remove and keep aside

2. In the same pan , add some more oil and add the mustard seeds and curry leaves and green cardamom and sauté for less than a minute

3. Add the ginger mince and garlic cloves and slit green chillis and sauté for a minute

4. Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent

5. Add the turmeric and black pepper powder and mix well

6. Add the coconut milk. Keep a little aside for adding in the end

7. Now cook on medium heat with lid until oil separates.

8. Now add the cooked fish, salt and lemon juice and cook for 2 minutes

9. Add the balance coconut milk and cook for another minute or so

10. Add the sliced tomatoe and cook for a minute or two.

11. Turn off the burner

12. Serve!
